I think the church did succeed in brainwashing people. I knew I was brainwashed when I was trying to let go of religion. It was rediculous. My belief in Hell was the first to go, and yet I still have a lingering fear of it. It was a cruel thing for them to do.
It’s the indoctrination I really despise.
The only reason these religions are surviving is because of the children, they use scare tactics like hell to further their beliefs onto helpless little minds.

I was raised as a christian. I went to sunday school and chruch every week for 7 years or so, then when I was 12 i began asking questions the church couldn’t answer, so I was an agnostic from that point on. (Though I didn’t know the term.) Just about a year ago I became a full on atheist.
