Everybody has a right to their beliefs. That does not translate into a right to those beliefs being correct, or everyone having to view them as such.
Science: You may not like it, you may not agree with it. But it works.
I’m pretty sure creationists are immune to this stuff.
You really have to applaud the visionaries who developed this…

Not that this is about giving atheists or agnostics a good name (I hope) but it’s a good thing for everyone to see that we do our part!

Hitchens’ Razor cuts through bullshit apologism, guaranteed!

Life of Scientist Who Changed the World’s View
“I can find in my undergraduate classes, bright students who do not know that the stars rise and set at night, or even that the Sun is a star.”- Carl Sagan
“Remember to look up at the stars and not down at your feet. Try to make sense of what you see and wonder about what makes the universe exist. Be curious. And however difficult life may seem, there is always something you can do and succeed at. It matters that you don’t just give up.” -Stephen Hawking
Like no other science, astrophysics cross-pollinates the expertise of chemists, biologists, geologists and physicists, all to discover the past, present, and future of the cosmos—and our humble place within it.” -Neil deGrasse Tyson
“Two things are infinite: the universe and human stupidity; and I’m not sure about the the universe.” -Albert Einstein
“Never express yourself more clearly than you are able to think.” - Niels Bohr
“Poets say science takes away from the beauty of the stars - mere globs of gas atoms. I, too, can see the stars on a desert night, and feel them. But do I see less or more?”- Richard Feynman
“In science, we must be interested in things, not in persons.” -Marie Curie
“You look at science (or at least talk of it) as some sort of demoralising invention of man, something apart from real life, and which must be cautiously guarded and kept separate from everyday existence. But science and everyday life cannot and should not be separated. Science, for me, gives a partial explanation for life. In so far as it goes, it is based on fact, experience and experiment.” -Rosalind Franklin
“I do not think there is any thrill that can go through the human heart like that felt by the inventor as he sees some creation of the brain unfolding to success… such emotions make a man forget food, sleep, friends, love, everything.”-Nikola Tesla.
“I never did a day’s work in my life. It was all fun. I have not failed. I’ve just found 10,000 ways that won’t work.” -Thomas Edison

*Cough* Creationists *Cough*
Time flies when you’re having fun!
I’ve been busy myself, barely having time even for my crappy personal blog, but now that I’ve got my place at University sorted, I’ll have a little more time from the end of next month onwards to spam your dashboards ;)
Also, we have two new moderators joining us! I’m sure they’ll introduce themselves once everything’s sorted, so I hope you enjoy what they post.
It’s been a good year, thanks for sticking by us!

Variations of this floating around.
The reality is that if a parent tells their 8 year old child that drugs are bad and not to use them, but then a drug dealer shows up on their school playground and lies and talks him into using heroin, and the child dies, the drug dealer is responsible for the child’s death.
Genesis 3
3 Now the serpent was more crafty than any beast of the field which the Lord God had made. And he said to the woman, “Indeed, has God said, ‘You shall not eat from any tree of the garden’?” 2 The woman said to the serpent, “From the fruit of the trees of the garden we may eat; 3 but from the fruit of the tree which is in the middle of the garden, God has said, ‘You shall not eat from it or touch it, or you will die.’” 4 The serpent said to the woman, “You surely will not die! 5 For God knows that in the day you eat from it your eyes will be opened, and you will be like God, knowing good and evil.” 6 When the woman saw that the tree was good for food, and that it was a delight to the eyes, and that the tree was desirable to make one wise, she took from its fruit and ate; and she gave also to her husband with her, and he ate.
Satan brought sin into the world, he is responsible for every living creature’s death. While I think it’s silly to debate about fictitious stories, I find it fascinating that followers of the Bible consider that their god, the creator of everything, all-powerful, all-knowing, all-wise, can have his perfect plan for humanity so easily thwarted by a few sentences spoken by a talking snake. And then these followers proceed to blame said snake for every death this god inflicts thereafter.
You know what would have made more sense than killing the above two million people? Simply kill 2 people, Adam and Eve, and start fresh. And while he’s starting over, maybe he could put that fruit tree in a little less accessible a place, kill the darned snake, and keep a better eye on things the next time around. Problem solved.
Taking the OP’s analogy to its logical conclusion, I have to say his analysis is in fact detrimental to his own position. Because, who created Satan? I think a study of the Bible is quite clear it was the person you’re trying to clear for all those deaths.
So, back to the analogy:The final sentence was incredibly telling. The creator of the cause of death is, by your logic, the true cause of death. And I’m sure most agree that God created Satan. Now, in which case…
Isn’t God therefore, by your own logic, the one really responsible then for every death, ever?
Talk about being hoist by your own petard…

Very interesting presentation, well worth a watch.
This edges out past favourite, VigilantCitizen.
Gems include:
In these games you play as Zelda, a young boy who wears a green dress and tights.
Young boys will also want to wear dresses and tights after playing this game which will cause them to be attracted to other boys and God says it is a sin to lie with another man.
Question: Are we collectively losing the will to think anymore, or…?

No one wins.
Both sides are in the same fault of accusing the other side as either pushing their beliefs. Both sides have those who get offended by this, and blame the whole other side for it.
Even I have done this, blamed ‘atheists’ as a group, for treating me like any other ‘Christian’, when really not every Atheist is like that, nor every Christian.
I stopped this, because it’s not fair, but also it’s just fucking ridiculous.
Christian vs. Atheist, who wins: Norse Mythology.
There’s no denying that Thor has become MUCH more popular in recent years. O.o
It is a bit of a Thorny issue amongst both sides, it’s true…

So, life on Earth is just a test to see if we qualify for a Heaven and God already knows if we’ll pass the test or not. Seems legit.
You can change your own destiny. God doesn’t choose for you. Parents can try all they like. Nothing in your life is a fixed truth. The truths are what you make of it.
Control over your own destiny is all well and good, but if God is omniscient he know’s what this destiny is even before you are born. That is the argument with this poster. If God already knows our destiny, then what is the point of running this life test? If we are destined to Heaven or Hell before birth, why not just start us there? So that we can learn? What can we do with what we’ve learned, particularly if we, as many argue, are doomed to an eternity in Hell with no chance of parole? What good does this knowledge do us in eternal paradise?
What, then, is God’s entire point of the exercise if he knows the exact outcome in advance?
If the outcome is predetermined, then free will is the cruellest of illusionary jokes.
