Monkeys understand that doing a favour for another monkey will deem them a favour in return at a later date. That is basically “do to others what you would have them do to you”, a concept understood by animals who cannot read. Religion is all mythology, gives some nice stories that equates to the morals of lore like little red riding hood’s not to talk to strangers. Past that, it is nothing more. Really do hope humanity sheds these archaic bindings.
